The DNR will then contact the property owner with questions about whether the DNR may publicly share the location of the tree, and if so, how the location may be shared. The nominator will be responsible for supplying the property owner’s name and contact information on the nomination form. For example, the DNR requires written consent from the property owner before the nomination may proceed into the inspection phase. The DNR has implemented safeguards to protect property owners’ privacy. Many of our nominated trees are located on private property. Note that not all types of information provided may be kept confidential. However, in the case of a public records request, electing to remain confidential helps us protect your personal information from being disclosed. By selecting this option, the DNR may store your information for program management purposes. You may elect this option when completing the nomination form or inspector application. You have the option to keep certain information confidential if you are nominating or inspecting a tree.
